18 years in the making... 

Back late 90's, first time I took a glimpse of the skate scene here in the Philippines. I meet some of the homies over at SM NORTH EDSA, 8 a.m. on a Saturday... It Shaped everything on where WELEGENDARY is right now.


My good friend Vince Penas, invited me to go with him one day and told me just to bring some canned goods just incase we go get hungry. Took a jeep, went to the famed SM NORTH parking lot ... Played over the stairs of SUPER SALES CLUB and met some of the most influential people of the local skate scene. Back on the times when everyone was cool as long you skate. Edward Pascua was already peddling bootleg skate shirts, a time when there was just a few of skate shops back then. Softex blank shirts with his signature plastisol  paint prints, shirts would tear up after numerous washing but the prints would stay like they were printed hours before. Then after a few weekends, I saw the iconic DEMON HEAD LOGO and got inspired of the idea of having an independent skate clothing brand. He called it POTHEAD PRODUCTS.

As the years progressed you would see this brand being worn by top tier skaters and has been a household name to skaters in metro manila.

It drew me and some of some close friends to start our own brands,  grouped it  and called it SPONGKLONG ALLIANCE. Different concept brands which are being back boned by good homies. CUBE CLOTHING ( Me and Glenn Ford Hermosa ) ,  Horizon ( Wong Lorenzana ) , Automatic Clothing ( Lloyd Briones ) and TONIC ( Rico Blanco ).

Through the years these brands would changed and close down, even POTHEAD went out of the circulation. But for me, I didn't know back then it would be a start of something good.

I consider POTHEAD and Edward a foundation of WELEGENDARY, it's just time to bring it back.
